Letter from IUEC Safety Director
Updated On: Jul 07, 2020

Brothers and Sisters,

OSHA has just issued COVID-19 guidance for the construction industry.  This guidance closely mirrors the requirements in the NABTU/CPWR standards adopted by the Governing Board of The American Building Trades Unions (NABTU) last month with your input, which CPWR used to produce and present the CPWR/COVID-19 Awareness Training.  Although the guidance falls short on explicitly requiring respirators when workers are within six feet of other workers or civilians, it very clearly infers that employers need to assess hazards and comply with 1910.134.

The link, for this guidance, is under the ACTION CENTER to the left on this website.

Thank you for continuing your efforts in order to protect your members during this pandemic.  Please continue to enforce ont he job Safety and make sure your members recognize the daily Safety hazards that are always present during their work day.

Thank you and work safe,

Mike Langer, IUEC Director of Safety
