I was sent a little information this morning that I think ALL Virginia Licensed mechanics should see. We have a number of mechanics who will apply for their license, keep it for 2 years and let it expire. 3 - 5 years later, or longer, they reapply because they realize that their license has expired. That being said, everyone needs to know that the "reapply" without having to take a test is over. You will have 2 times that you can use the fact that you went thru a DOL approved apprenticeship program without having to take a test. Any time after that, from now on, you will have to sit for the Virginia State Test before you can be renewed or reinstated. The days of letting your license expire for over 2 years so that you don't have to do continued education are OVER. It is the responsibility of each mechanic to know when his license expires and to get it renewed in a timely manner. I am always here to help, in any way, get your licenses up to date in the fastest way possible. If you need help all you have to do is call me and we will get it taken care of. Please make sure you check your Virginia license and know how many times you have let it expire past 2 years. I would hate to see a mechanic who has been working for 15 - 30 years have to go to Richmond, Virginia and sit and take a test.
Please be aware of all your licenses and when they expire. Please read the quote below from the Virginia Board.
