It is getting to be that time of year again. In a couple of months the weather will be getting warmer and Christmas in April will be just around the corner. We need to start to prepare now so that we have people willing to help those in need of home improvement work that can't do it themselves. Local #10 and our retired and active members have been involved with this project for over 10 years and we would like to continue to help the community. Mike and Rose will be taking sign ups, so we know how many people are willing to pitch in and help with this project. Mike will be at the February Union Meeting, there will be a sign up list in the Union Hall Office, and you can email Mike and Rose at mherrity@hotmail.com. If you would like to talk to Mike for more information, you can call him at 540-219-8909. This year the project date will be Saturday April 28th. We will not be assigned a home until sometime in March. As soon as that information is available it will be posted and given to all that want to help.
Please sign up before March 8th so the final planning can take place.

UPDATE: Allen Burns resigned on Wednesday 01/18/2012
Our newest Business Agent, Allen Burns, started his new path today. We, here at the Hall, would like to Welcome Allen to his new position here with us. He will be learning the ropes for a few days as he settles into his new office. If you see Allen in the field, shake his hand and thank him for his service to the Local. Sworn in last night, along with Allen, were new President, Sonny Yeatman, E-Board members, Crash Caparrotta, TC McGraw, Mark Trader, and new Warden James Hall. We would like to congratulate all of them on their new position.

We, here at the Hall, as well as many brothers and sisters of Local #10 want to thank Joe Mickesh for his service to the Local over the years. Joe has been a part of this Local for 35 years, in one position or another, and will be greatly missed by all. As he starts a new phase of his life, we want to wish him ALL the best and hope that he will stop by and see us when he is in town. If you know Joe, you know he is headed for warmer weather in the south. He enjoys riding his Harley, fishing, working on cars, jogging, and all of these are much easier to do when the wheather is a little nicer then it is here in Maryland. Joes dad also lives in Florida, where Joe is headed, and Joe will be spending some time with him fishing off the dock. Hope you catch lots of fish Joe, and hope you enjoy being Retired.

The New Year is almost here and Santa is back at the North Pole starting to prepare for next year. It is amazing how long we prepare for the Christmas holiday and how fast it is over. I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that Santa was good to each of you. As the New Year approaches, I am happy to say, the bench is looking better. At the post of this article, we have 69 mechanics and 14 apprentices on the bench. This is muccccchhhhh better than this time last year when we had 215 members sitting there. My prayer for 2012 is that we get ALL our members back to work. According to the Washington Post, there were a record number of permits approved in the city during 2011 for work to begin in 2012. This makes me and alot of other people, very hopeful for a break out in the New Year. Wouldn't that be worth celebrating !!!
Best wishes to all our brothers/sisters and their families for a Happy, Healthy, work filled 2012. Work safe, party safe, and travel safe during this holiday weekend and we will see you/talk to you in the New Year.
