I spoke with the ladies at Pearson Vue yesterday. The computer for the renewal of DC Elevator Mechanics License is in the middle of a total overhaul. The Renewal Letters that normally go out in September, will not be going out until October. The system is unavailable until after October 1, 2017. That will still give everyone 60 days to renew your license. Anyone applying for a new license can do so after October 1st.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Tammie at the Union Hall.
***Just so everyone is aware. DC HAS DROPPED THE THIRD PARTY COMPANY that was doing their license renewals. They are now doing everything themselves. They will be emailing everyone in the next week to two weeks, with instructions on how to renew your license. I am in the middle of learning everything I can so that I will be available to assist anyone needing my help.***
***UPDATE TWO (2)*** Spoke with the IT Department at DCRA yesterday. Their program has some questions that do not pertain to Elevator Constructors, so they have to remove several questions and redo their program layout before we will be able to really use the program. I will keep everyone updated as I go thru my 10th day of contact with DCOPLA.
***UPDATE THREE (3)***I was finally able to finish the new license I was working on. It took me 12 days. I finished it on October 13, 2017 at 2:21 in the afternoon. There are still some issues. I will be trying to apply for a new license for a new mechanic on Wednesday of this week. Hopefully things have been updated and there will be no issues. If this turns out to be true, then DC will be allowing for the renewals to begin. I will keep you posted.***
***UPDATE FOUR (4)*** I have been on the phone with DCRA this morning. ALL RENEWAL MECHANICS may go on line to www.dcra.dc.gov, pick Business Licensing & Registration and then Get a Professional License. HOWEVER, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE EMAIL FROM DCRA. You will receive a message, at a specific point in the renewal, that you must wait for your email. You may then get out of the application and return back to the same point when you receive the renewal email. If you do not wish to do this you may just wait for the renewal information and then proceed from there. If you have any questions, you may call me at the Union Hall and I will be more than happy to discuss questions with you.****
***UPDATE FIVE (5)*** I have been able to do a couple of NEW licenses. The system seems to be in better shape now. The renewal emails have not gone out, as far as I am aware, but I received a phone call yesterday from a member who went on and did his renewal with no issues. I double checked his expiration date on line this morning and it is showing November 30, 2019. I am going to try and do a reinstatement today and will update as to how that goes. I would say if you would like to try and do your renewal, go ahead and do it. If you have a problem or any questions give me a call.
***UPDATE SIX (6)*** I do believe that everyone should have gotten an email this weekend on how to renew your license. I have done one this morning and everything seems to be working great. The email you were sent gives you step by step instructions on how to renew. If I did your originial license for you and you need my help in doing this renewal, please give me a call and we can set something up to get this done. Just so everyone is aware, for DC an original license is $325.00. a renewal is $260.00, and a reinstatement is $375.00. If you have any questions or don't understand something, please do not hesitate to call me directly.
